Homemade Chili Seasoning
My tried and true chili seasoning recipe includes common spices that are probably already in your spice cabinet. With a hefty dose of chili powder, balanced with smoked paprika, garlic powder, and just the right amount of salt and pepper, this chili seasoning will be your new go-to spice blend for making all sorts of chili recipes!

- 4 tablespoons chili powder
- 2 tablespoons smoked paprika Or substitute regular paprika
- 2 tablespoons cumin
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon coriander
- 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon salt
- 1 tablespoon black pepper
- ½ tablespoon onion powder
- ½ tablespoon Mexican oregano
Add all ingredients to a medium bowl, and mix well.
Transfer chili seasoning to an airtight container.
- I prefer to store my homemade rubs and seasonings in plastic seasoning bottles. You can choose from a wide variety of rub bottles on Amazon, or thoroughly wash and dry an empty spice bottle that you already have.
- This chili seasoning recipe makes enough seasoning for a large pot of chili, with 2-3 pounds of meat and multiple cans of tomatoes/beans.
- If you prefer a spicy chili, add 1/2 to 1 teaspoon of cayenne pepper.
